Lycos is seeking a Senior Accountant with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to continue with developing the accounting infrastructure of our multi-company organization.

As our Sr. Accountant, you'll be responsible for performing general accounting and bookkeeping duties while also executing and enforcing corporate accounting procedures across our family of companies. To be successful in this role, you will need to be a self-starter, able to manage complex workflows, and have excellent problem-solving skills to improve and streamline processes.  If you're a team player with a "can-do" attitude who is looking to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, this is the role for you.

What you'll do in this role...

  • Manages, administers and maintains the following accounting functions timely and accurately:
    • Day-to-day activities of cash flow including reconciliations and deposits
    • Incoming and outgoing pay applications and invoices for two companies.
    • General ledger and maintaining/updating the chart of accounts
    • Monthly and year-end close on financial statements; consolidated financial statements
    • Construction contracts and "project tracker" percentage of completion
    • Monthly bank reconciliations
    • Bi-weekly payroll allocations
    • Notes payable schedules
    • Local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Corresponds with customers to resolve escalated billing issues
  • Safeguards assets and assures accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing appropriate internal control procedures across all departments and entities
  • Protects and keeps company financial information confidential. Maintains organized system of physical and digital records as necessary
  • Ensures exceptional internal and external customer interactions by handling all incoming communications in an efficient, positive and professional manner, answering or redirecting appropriately
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned 

What you need coming in...

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Two or more years of progressive accounting experience. Proficient knowledge of GAAP, regulations, procedures, and month end close
  • Two or more years of experience with a strong focus on actionable cost accounting, daily cash flow management, analysis, and reconciliations
  • Experience in a multi-company privately held organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Outlook) and report writing software; ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Strong detail orientation, time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy  
  • Established analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to function well in a team-based environment
  • Ability to successfully execute change across companies with leadership focusing on expedited completion of critical project tasks
  • Self-starter, proficient and able to think outside of the box to bring new ideas forward and help with process efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Ability to remain positive and flexible to change while working in a fast paced, changing and challenging work environment are vital to success in this role
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and an exceptional experience for customers and potential customers while balancing workload.  Strong verbal and written communication skills 

What's preferred...

  • Knowledge of construction accounting principles and percent of completion on contracts
  • Accounting experience in the commercial construction industry
  • Solid QuickBooks experience 
  • Notary Public
